The qualification program of the RTG relies on four columns: student seminars including progress reports, theoretical and interactive hands-on courses and workshops, lectures with international experts in the fields of pancreatic research, oncology and immunology, and annual retreats and a summer school. The program uses successful qualification concepts from existing RTGs and is implemented under the umbrella of MLU's International Graduate Academy (InGrA). For PhD students, the educational program aims to complete a thesis in three years, and for MD students, it is a one-year program in which they conduct experimental research as the basis for their MD thesis. The RTG also integrates MDs participating in the Clinician Scientist program. The interdisciplinary qualification concept ensures that students are able to conduct experimental research on a very high level. The RTG thereby creates a scientific network that fosters internationally competitive research and bridges the gap between bench and bedside.

Courses and workshops

Courses and workshops are mainly provided by the InGrA, complemented by activities of local RTGs and the HaPKoM program. The qualification program also includes specifically designed professional skills training courses taught by the principal investigators of the RTG, other faculty members of the MLU, and external experts. An overview of the offered workshops and courses is provided in the table below.
