The current COVID-19 pandemic poses a major threat to individual health, as well as to public health and the national economy. To avert these dangers, difficult decisions must be made that restrict normal life. Information on the frequency of respiratory infections in the population can be an aid to decision-making here, because it allows us to see the daily changes and, if necessary, to recognize whether a renewed increase is taking place. It also gives us insight into the course of infections that present with few symptoms, where those affected do not seek healthcare. Here, it is important to learn how symptoms develop from day to day and how long they last. By participating, you can make a contribution in the current corona crisis.

To this end, the University Medical Center Halle (Saale) launched two studies to support us all in the fight against Corona:

CovidSurv is open to all interested parties. We would like to recruit as many volunteers as possible to inform us on a daily basis whether they have symptoms of respiratory disease or not. If they have symptoms, then we ask for more information about the symptoms.

The study was first announced on April 09, 2020, and on May 11, 2020, more than 850 people from Saxony-Anhalt were already registered, more than 650 of them from Halle. Under "Study results" you will find current evaluations.

A detailed description of the study can be found here.

Information on data protection can be found here.
